"I’m Afraid to Have Children".

Pregnancy and birth in humanitarian crisis

Pregnancies and childbirth don’t stop during humanitarian crises. But access to healthcare does. Many women end up giving birth without medical support. Lack of medicine, clean water, and sanitation increases the risk of complications.

It’s completely normal to feel anxious in such situations. Talk to your gynaecologist about your concerns and make a plan for where you want to give birth and who will assist you.

If your anxiety stems from the fear of becoming pregnant, you’re not alone — and there is help available!

Birth Control Options
There are many ways to prevent pregnancy. Some of the most common methods include IUDs (coils), implants, birth control pills, condoms, and emergency contraception.
